Michael Doyle (SN 1641) was born in Berringa and attended the Christian Brothers School in Ballarat. He was a 30 year old machinist when he enlisted on January 7th 1915. Posted to the 51st Infantry Battalion, he left Australia from Fremantle on board the Aenius in April 1916 bound for the Western Front. He was killed in the fighting at Zonnebeke, Belgium, on October 12th 1917. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium. He was 33 years of age.
