Charles William Fox (SN 12294) born in Ballarat, was a 24 year old clerk when he enlisted on September 27th 1915. He trained with the Australian Medical Corps in Melbourne until he embarked aboard the Runic on June 20th 1916. He reached France in November 1916 where he served with the 10th Field Ambulance. He came through the war without significant illness or injury and returned to Australia as part of the nursing staff aboard the Port Lyttleton which reached Melbourne on August 5th 1919. He was discharged on September 19th 1919.
His brother George also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
