Biography

Born in Leonard's Hill, Victoria, Charles Andrew Mann was a single 18 year old meter mechanic at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the21st of January 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 27th of May 1916.
On the 6th of May 1918, Charles was awarded the Military Medal.
He was wounded in action on the 29th of September 1918 with a gunshot wound to his thigh, but he rejoined his unit on the 9th of November 1918.
Charles returned to Australia on the 12th of June 1919, and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 27th of July 1919.
