Biography

John Joseph Milburn was a single 22 year old engine cleaner at the time of his enlistment on the 10th of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 18th of November 1915.
On the 1st of November 1916 John was appointed Lance Corporal. He was promoted to Corporal on the 24th of February 1917.
John was promoted again on the 1st of May 1917 to Sergeant.
On the 3rd of March 1919, John was married whilst serving abroad to Lily Saunders in Nottingham, England.
He returned to Australia on the 6th of August 1919, and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 29th of September 1919.
