Biography

Raymond Dawson Vaughan was a farmer from Ballarat when he enlisted on 1st February 1916. He was born in Ballarat, and was a 24 year old bachelor. He was allocated to the 39th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1005. On 12th January 1917 he was promoted Lance Corporal. On 9th June 1917 he was killed in action at Messines, and is buried in the Messines Ridge British Cemetery, Belgium.
