Biography

Leslie Sneddon (SN 4541) was born in Ballarat East and, like his cousin Archibald, he attended the Golden Point State School. He enlisted on February 4th 1916 as a 22 year old, single, railway employee. He was posted to the 22nd Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne on board the Orontes in late March. He arrived in France at the end of July where, on November 7th 1916, he was killed in action at Pozieres. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
