Biography

Edward Harris Bolwell (SN 2825) born at Hartwell, was a 42 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 6th 1916. As a reinforcement for the 2nd Pioneer Battalion, he embarked aboard the Port Lincoln on October 20th and sailed to England. While training in England, it appears some deficiencies were identified and he was not deployed to the battle front but was returned to Australia aboard the Port Lyttleton and was discharged medically unfit on January 23rd 1918.

His half brother Percy also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
