Born in Ballarat, Albert Thomas Loats was a single 22 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment on the 20th of March 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 27th of May 1916.
Albert returned to Australia on the 18th of July 1919 and was discharged on the 4th of September 1919 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
