Biography

Albert Thomas Loats (SN 1337) born in Ballarat, was a 22 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 20th 1916. He embarked on May 27th aboard the Ascanius and served through the war in France and England, with the 39th Infantry Battalion and then the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion. He returned home on the Rio Pardo, disembarked at Adelaide on July 18th 1919 and was discharged on September 4th.

His brother William also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
