Leslie Robert Tucker (SN 3142) born at Ballarat, was a 22 year old student when he enlisted on January 29th 1915. On May 15th he embarked aboard the Euripides and sailed to Egypt. In late August he landed at Gallipoli to serve with the 2nd Field Ambulance. He served there until late October when tonsilitis forced his evacuation to Egypt. Once recovered he was deployed to France in March 1916. In November, bronchitis then trench fever caused his evacuation to England and he was unable to rejoin his unit in France until June 1917. Aside from some minor illnesses he completed his service without serious incident. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff aboard the Medic and was discharged on July 30th 1919.

His brothers William and Samuel also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
