William Bosley Tucker (SN 6807) born at Ballarat, was a 35 year old assayer when he enlisted in Melbourne on September 30th 1915. On November 18th he embarked aboard the Wiltshire assigned to the 4th Field Artillery Brigade. He reached France in March 1916 and avoided battle wounds until September 1918 when he suffered a shrapnel wound to his shoulder. He was evacuated to hospital in England where he then contracted influenza which kept him from the battle front until the Armistice was signed. He returned to Australia aboard the Berrima, reached Melbourne on February 17th 1919 and was discharged on April 3rd.
His brothers Leslie and Samuel also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
