Biography

Charles Aubrey Nicholas Cowell was born in Ballarat East. He was 21 years old, single, a postman living in Ballarat East when he enlisted on 1st June 1916. He was appointed to the 22nd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 5880. He was killed in action during the heavy fighting at Bullecourt on 3rd May 1917. His name was recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
