Alexander Dowie was born in Windermere, Victoria was single and was employed as a Labourer. He enlisted in Broadmeadows, Victoria at the age of 21. He volunteered and was stationed with the 4th Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron with the Regimental number 516. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 11th of March 1916. Tree number 2448.
