Francis (Frank) George Taylor (SN 1928) born in Melbourne, was a 21 year old labourer when he enlisted in Brisbane on December 15th 1915. Shortly after this he was absent without leave for five days but still embarked aboard the Kyarra on January 3rd 1916 and sailed to Egypt where he was attached to the 13th Field Artillery Brigade. He was moved to France in June 1916 and in November was transferred to the 5th Division Ammunition Column. Throughout his service he was troubled by illness, but he avoided battle wounds. After the war he returned to Australia aboard the Orontes, disembarked at Melbourne on June 28th 1919 and was discharged there on August 22nd.

His brother Ernest also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
