Biography

Charles Henry Mullard (SN 3394) born at Ballarat, was a 20 year old labourer when he first enlisted at Casterton on September 14th 1914, but for some reason, not recorded, he was discharged three weeks later. He enlisted again at Ballarat on November 14th 1916 and embarked aboard the Medic on December 16th. He served in England and France with the 6th Field Company Engineers and while he had some health issues, he avoided battle wounds. He returned to Australia aboard the Nestor, disembarked at Melbourne on February 1st 1919 and was discharged on March 12th ‘medically unfit, defective vision’.

His brother Edward was killed in action in August 1918 and his brother William also served in the AIF and they are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
