Biography

Albert Ernest Kernick (SN1777) was born in Sebastopol and attended the Sebastopol State School. He was a 24 year old labourer when he enlisted on October 4th 1915. He was assigned to the 5th Infantry Battalion and embarked for active service in May 1916 on board the Port Lincoln. He was killed in action on May 12th 1917 during the Second Battle of Bullecourt. He has no known grave, and his name is on listed on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
