Biography

Claude Leonard Henderson (SN 16184) born in Geelong, was a 23 year old book keeper in Ballarat when he enlisted on September 20th 1915. He trained with the Medical Corps before embarking aboard the Medic on December 16th 1916 and sailing to England. In April 1917 he joined the 2nd Australian General Hospital in France. A month later he was transferred to the Service Corps as a driver. He completed his service without major incident and returned home aboard the Chemnitz, disembarked at Melbourne on September 5th 1919 and was discharged on October 13th.

His brother Arthur also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
