Biography

Arthur Norman Henderson (SN 9033/7428) born at Ballarat, was a 27 year old paymaster when he enlisted in Adelaide on June 9th 1915. On September 14th he embarked aboard the Ballarat to serve with the 20th Company Australian Service Corps. In March 1916 he reached France and managed to avoid serious illness or injury during his service. In August 1917 he was transferred to the 2nd Motor Transport Company. At war’s end he returned to Australia aboard the Mahia, disembarked on July 17th 1919 and was discharged on September 16th. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V83031.

His brother Claude also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
