Frederick Charles Louis Bremer (Chaplain) born in Ballarat, was a married 30 year old clergyman when he joined the AIF on May 11th1917, the same day he embarked aboard the Ascanius. He served predominantly in England but did spend four months in France from January 1918. He returned to Australia aboard the Rio Negro, disembarked at Melbourne on July 22nd1919 and his appointment was terminated on August 21st. He also enlisted to serve during WW2.
His brother Alfred also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Charles Bremer.
