Biography

Thomas Jones (SN 394) was born at Narrandera, NSW, but had attended the Dana Street State School in Ballarat. He enlisted on September 17th 1914. He was 20 years old, single and employed as a horse driver. He was allocated to the 8th Light Horse Regiment and embarked from Melbourne on board the Star of Victoria in February 1915. He was killed in the disastrous charge at The Nek, Gallipoli, on August 7th 1915. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine, Gallipoli.
