Francis (Frank) Perrin Dingle (SN 4518) was born in Ballarat and educated at the Brown Hill State School. He was a 22 year old electroplater when he enlisted in October 1916. He joined the 32nd Infantry Battalion and left Australia on board the Berrima in December. In May 1917 he was transferred to 50th Infantry Battalion in France. On October 16th he was severely wounded and evacuated to the 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, where he died on October 21st 1917. He is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. He was 23 years of age.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Frank P. Dingle
