Biography

Moreton David Williams (Maj.) was a married 31 year old career soldier when he was commissioned into the AIF as a captain on May 21st 1915. He embarked aboard the Orsova on July 17th . From February 1916 he served in France, primarily with the 36th Heavy Artillery Group, and was promoted to major in July. He returned to Australia aboard the Kanowna, disembarked at Melbourne on October 23rd 1919 and his commission was terminated on September 3rd 1920.

His brother Clifford also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
