Biography

Edward Alexander Marstin (SN 13073) born at Walhalla, was a married 34 year old motor mechanic when he enlisted in Melbourne on September 9th 1916. He embarked aboard the Persic on December 22nd first to England and then to France in June 1917. He served initially as a driver with the 1st Australian Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company then was later transferred to the 2nd Division Motor Transport Company. He returned to Australia aboard the Nestor, disembarked at Melbourne on July 2nd 1919 and was discharged on September 30th.

His brothers James and Archie also served in the AIF and are honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
