William Bartle Pearce (SN 9569) was born in Ballarat where he was a 29 year old mine manager when he enlisted on February 9th 1917. As a Tunnelling Company reinforcement, he embarked from Australia aboard the Nestor on February 28th 1918. He reached England in April then, in May, he crossed to France to join the 2nd Tunnelling Company. When hostilities ceased, he left England in September 1919 on board the Euripides, reached Melbourne in October, and was discharged on November 12th 1919.
