Biography

George Goddard (SN 3303) born at Ballarat, was a 23 year old farm labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on October 15th 1917. He embarked aboard the Ulysses on December 22nd and sailed to England. In May 1918 he was moved to France to join the 37th Infantry Battalion to serve out the final six months of the war. He returned to Australia aboard the Argyllshire, disembarked at Melbourne on September 22nd 1919 and was discharged on October 15th.

His brother James also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
