Born in Ballarat, George Goddard was a single farm labourer at the time of his enlistment at the age of 23 years old on the 25th of October 1917. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 22nd of December 1917.
On January 15th 1919 he was taken on strength with the 1st Australian Division Train from the 8th Battalion, and was appointed Driver.
He reverted to Private on the 27th of May 1919.
George returned to Australia on the 29th of September 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on October 15th 1919.
