Mark Reuben Fuller (Depot / SN 7128) born in Ballarat, first enlisted on August 23rd 1915 but suffered complications associated with appendicitis and was discharged medically unfit on June 1st 1916. Five months later, as a 24 year old carpenter he re-enlisted in Melbourne on October 30th. Posted to the 7th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Hororata on November 23rd and reached England in late January 1917. He was hospitalised due to pneumonia in March but was fit enough to cross to France in August. He came through the war without major illness or injury and returned to Australia aboard the Frankfurt, disembarked at Melbourne on August 20th 1919 and was discharged on September 27th.
His brother Jarvis also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Roy Fuller.
