Biography

Arthur Wellesley Hicks, a Shop Assistant from Ballarat, enlisted in the 20th ASC on 26 August 1915 at the age of 27. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A37 Barambah on 4 December 1915. He was temporarily detached from the 20th to the 25th Infantry Brigade on 18 may 1916 before rejoining the 20th two days later. On 9 May 1918 he was hospitalised as sick. He returned to Australia on 3 July 1919. There are no records of Pte Hicks being wounded in action.
