Biography

Leonard Wootton Hall was born in Ballarat and was a Carpenter by trade when he enlisted in the 14th Battalion, C Company on 23 October 1914 at the age of 20. Despite his glass left eye he trained with the 14th Battalion, was assigned a role as bugler, and embarked from Melbourne on the Ulysses on December 22nd. Just a week later, on December 29th at Albany, he was discharged as æmedically unfit – deficient eye sight'.
