Biography

Matthew Randall Wasley (SN 262) was born in Ballarat, educated at Scotch College and was a 21 year old law student when he enlisted in Melbourne on August 17th 1914. He joined the 6th Infantry Battalion and embarked in October. During his service he was promoted to Lance Corporal. On April 25th 1915 he was killed in action during the landing at Anzac Cove, and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Ray R. Wasley.
