David Kent (SN 1593) born at Ararat, was a 23 year old farmer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 16th 1915 . He embarked aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd and sailed to Egypt where he served with the 4th Light Horse Regiment. His unit was involved in the famous charge at Beersheba, but his record shows no sign that he suffered physical harm. He returned to Australia aboard the Dunluce Castle, disembarked at Melbourne on August 30th 1919 and was discharged on January 13th 1920.
His brother Henry also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
