Biography

Edgar Penna (SN 55429) was born in Ballarat where he attended the Glenpark State School. He joined the 6th general service reinforcements when he enlisted on March 28th 1918. He left Australia aboard the Borda in July and disembarked at London on September 27th. He was training, attached to the 6th Infantry Battalion, when the war ended. He was deployed to France for four months in early 1919 before returning to Australia on the Suevic. He was discharged on September 25th 1919. He also enlisted again during World War 2.

His brother Frederick also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
