Biography

George Thomas Thistlewaite was born in Koroit, but enlisted in Ballarat on 11th January 1915. He was a painter, 22 years old and single. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion with Regimental No. 2049. During his service he was promoted to Lance Corporal. His brother was Maurice Thistlethwaite. On 13th October 1917 he died of wounds received at Poelcappelle, and is buried at Lijessenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
