Biography

Arthur Nelson Foster (SN 69016) was born in Colac, Victoria was single and was employed as a Bank Clerk. He enlisted in Melbourne on June 4th 1918 at the age of 21. He embarked from Sydney with the 16th General Service Reinforcements, aboard the Carpentaria on November 7th 1918, just four days before the Armistice was signed. The ship was recalled, and he was discharged on Christmas eve 1918. He also served during World War 2 with service number V91980.

His brother Reginald also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
