Charles Carmichael (SN 15097) born in Ballarat, was a 28 year old shearer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 9th 1915. He embarked aboard the Karoola on August 19th 1916 and sailed to Egypt where he served at the 14th Australian General Hospital. He avoided serious illness or injury and returned to Australia aboard the Ulimaroa, disembarked at Melbourne on April 22nd 1919 and was discharged on August 9th. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V80904.
His brother Arthur also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
