Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a Labourer by trade, John Robson Aisbett was only 19 years when enlisted on 25th of May 1915 in the 7th reinforcement 8th Light horse with the rank of 'Trooper', number 1026. His Unit embarked on 23rd of September 1915 at Melbourne per H.M.A.T. A57 'Malakuta'. On 16th of April 1917 marched in from 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment to Machine Gun Squadron. On the 18th of July 1917 transferred from 3rd Light House Brigade Machine Gun squadron to 8th Light House Regiment. Was admitted to hospital suffering from Conjunctivitis, sceptic sores, abscess leg, jaundice and malaria at different times and later transferred to rest camp, Port Said. On 3rd July 1919 left Cairo for return to Australia per hospital transport 'Malta'. On 7th August 1919 reached Melbourne. Tree No:3769
