John Robson Aisbett (SN 1026) born at Carngham, was a 19 year old labourer when he enlisted at Smythesdale on May 25th 1915. He embarked aboard the Malakuta on September 23rd and sailed to Egypt to serve with the 3rd and 8th Light Horse Regiments. He had some illness problems but avoided battle wounds and returned to Australia aboard the Malta, disembarked at Melbourne on August 7th 1919 and was discharged on December 22nd. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V91777.
His brother Richard was killed in action in Belgium on March 23rd 1916 and is also honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
