Biography

Gustav William Feild (SN 787) was born in Murtoa, and was a 32 year old, unmarried plumber from Ballarat, when he enlisted in the Australian Flying Corps on June 29th 1916. He served as an air mechanic with the 3rd Squadron, based in England. He took ill during leave in the UK, and was admitted to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital on November 5th 1918. He died of pneumonia on November 9th 1918, and is buried in Harefield [St. Mary] Churchyard, England, UK.

His brother Francis also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
