Francis Edward Feild (SN 2023) born in Murtoa, was a married 31 year old motor car proprietor when he enlisted at Rockhampton Qld on March 27th 1917. He trained with the Australian Flying Corps at Laverton before embarking aboard the Anchises on August 8th. He served in England as an Air Mechanic and returned to Australia aboard the Port Sydney, disembarked at Melbourne on November 12th 1919 and was discharged on December 12th.
His brother Gustav also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
