Biography

George Augustus Fitch (SN 3199) born at Stawell, was a 22 year old railway employee when he enlisted in Melbourne on September 17th 1918. Assigned to the Railway Unit he embarked from Adelaide aboard the Boonah on October 22nd . With the signing of the Armistice, the Boonah was recalled, and he disembarked back in Australia on January 22nd 1919 and was discharged on February 5th.

His brother Frank also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
