Biography

Ernest James Downing was born in Mount Egerton, Victoria was single and was employed as a Miner. He enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 25. He volunteered and was stationed with the 24th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement later transferring to the 1st Pioneer Battalion with the Regimental number 1787. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 9th of February 1916. Tree number 3856.
