Biography

William Frederick Charles Downing was born in Mount Egerton, Victoria was single and was employed as a Dairyman. He enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 18. He volunteered and was stationed with the 24th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement later transferring to the 1st Pioneer Battalion with the Regimental number 1788. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 23rd of March 1919. Tree number 708.
