Biography

Dennis Thomas Miles was a single 21 year old clerk at the time of his enlistment on the 10th of February 1915.His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 10th of May 1915.
On the 4th of May 1915, he was appointed Corporal. He was then appointed Lance Sergeant on the 1st of July 1915. On the 23rd of September 1916, Dennis was promoted to Quartermaster and Honorary Lieutenant. On the 19th of September 1917, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire. On the 14th of October 1917, he was promoted to Quartermaster and Honorary Captain. On the 1st of January 1918 Dennis was mentioned in despatches.
He was awarded the Medaille de La Reconnaissance Francaise on the 8th of March 1918. Dennis was mentioned in despatches again on the 18th of April on the 30th of October in 1919.
His appointment was terminated on the 9th of November 1919.
