Biography

Harold Rylah Peart was born in Majorca, VIC and was a Teacher in Ballarat when he enlisted in the MED26.49.1SECTION B on 4 March 1915 at the age of 22. His unit arrived in France on 4 April 1916. He was promoted to Bombardier in the New Year, I January 1917, and on 24 January was transferred to the 4th Light Horse Brigade, 11th Battery. Aside from a bout of diarrhoea which saw him hospitalised on 13 October 1918 he completed his tour of service without major incident, illness or injury, returning home to Australia and disembarking at Melbourne on 4 March 1919.
