Charles Augustus Wade (SN 3232) born in Ballarat, was a 19 year old cabinet maker when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 16th 1915. He trained with the Army Medical Corps before embarking aboard the Ajana on June 4th. He served with the 6th Field Ambulance at Gallipoli from late August until that campaign was abandoned. In June 1916 he moved to France where he served predominantly with the 15th Field Ambulance. At War’s end he returned home on the Kashmir, disembarked on April 30th 1919 and was discharged on August 1st.
His brother William also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
