Biography

Andrew Duncan Morrow (SN 98/Lt.) was born in Ballarat and educated at Ballarat College. He enlisted in Melbourne on August 18th 1914 as an unmarried 28 year old bank clerk. He embarked in September and reached Gallipoli in early May 1915 to serve with the 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance. While in Egypt, after the Gallipoli evacuation, he was transferred to the 59th Battalion and promoted to Lieutenant before moving to France. On July 21st 1916 he died of wounds received during the fighting at Fromelles. He is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery, France.

His brother Thomas (no Avenue of Honour tree) was killed in Belgium in 1917. A third brother Hugh also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
