Biography

Jason Leslie Boyd Coulter (SN 1333), born in Ballarat, was educated at Grenville College and was a 35 year old mining engineer when he enlisted at Moree, NSW, on August 27th 1914. Originally registered under the name of "Boyd", his name was corrected in March 1915. He was posted to the 2nd Infantry Battalion and later was transferred to the 8th Infantry Battalion with whom he landed on Gallipoli. He was severely wounded at Gallipoli on June 1st 1915 and was evacuated to the 15th General Hospital, in Alexandra, Egypt, where he died on August 10th. He was 37 years of age and is buried in the Chatby War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandra, Egypt.

His brother Leslie was killed in France in June 1917 and is also honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
