Biography

James Phillip (Peter according to Nominal Roll) Zahnleiter was born in Ballarat and enlisted as a compositor from Ballarat East on 15th March 1915. He was 26 years old and a bachelor. He was sent to the 5th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 2247. On 25th July 1916 he was killed in action at Pozieres. His name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
