Biography

Samuel George Sells (SN 2250) was born in Ballarat East and attended Queen Street State School but enlisted in Geelong West on May 12th 1915. The 32 year old, married labourer joined the 6th Battalion, alongside his brother, William. Together, they embarked from Melbourne in June aboard the Wandilla. He was killed in action the day after he landed in Gallipoli during the Battle of Lone Pine on August 7th 1915. He has no known grave but his name is recorded on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli.

His brother William was also killed at Gallipoli and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
