Biography

Percival Morgan (SN 1931) was born at Miners Rest and attended the local state school, but enlisted at Oaklands SA on January 22nd 1915. He was 23 years old, unmarried, and a bicycle mechanic. He was posted to 16th Infantry Battalion and embarked for active service in April on board the Hororata. He was promoted to Sergeant during his service but on 10th August 1916 he died of wounds received during the fighting at Pozieres. He is buried in Warloy-Baillon Cemetery, France.

His brother James also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
