Biography

Harold Illingworth Clark (SN 2132) was born at Mt. Clear and attended the Mt. Clear State School. He was a farm labourer at the time of his enlistment on July 3rd 1915. He left Australia aboard the Hororata in September and after a period in Egypt he reached France in March 1916. He was seriously wounded in the fighting at Pozieres and died of his wounds at the 44th Casualty Clearing Station on July 29th 1916. He was 24 years of age and is buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery, France. He is remembered on the honour board of the Mt. Clear State School.

His brother Alfred was also killed in action in Belgium and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
