Ernest Davey Morshead was born in Ballarat East, but on 20th July 1915 he enlisted in Donald where he was a teacher at the High School. He was 22 years old and single. He was posted to the 29th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1319. During his service he was promoted Sergeant. He was killed in action at Fleurbaix on 19th July 1916, and is buried in Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
