Dorothea Furness was born in Glenferrie, Victoria was single and was employed as a Nurse. She enlisted in Melbourne, Victoria at the age of 35. He volunteered and was stationed with the Australian Army Nursing Service, British India Service as a Sister. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 27th of November 1919. Tree number 983.
Her brother James also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
